LCA to Go

Project Aim

LCA to Go will integrate environmental evaluation into the product development process of 100 European, Small to Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs). This will be achieved through the development of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool which will be open source and freely available online for use by SMEs. Providing an easy and accessible systematic approach to environmental evaluations encourages SMEs to reduce environmental impacts across a product’s life cycle.

EDC’s Involvement

EDC is responsible for managing the dissemination activities and establishing the communications strategy for the project. EDC will develop and implement a training programme to support the 100 selected Small to Medium Size Enterprise partners. On top of this EDC is conducting research on the intersectoral synergies within the project and between the separate industries. EDC will also conduct an evaluation of the impact LCA to Go will have on European, national and regional government policies.

Key Project Outcomes

• The development of Life Cycle Assessment software specifically for six industrial and technical sectors: bio-based plastics, industrial machinery, electronics, renewable energy, sensors and smart textiles.
• The creation of success stories to inspire Small to Medium size Enterprises to undertake Life Cycle Assessments as part of their product development process.
• Life Cycle Assessment software demonstrations and training within 100 companies.
